Stony Brook Summer Chamber Music Camp
with the

BRYANT PARK QUARTET

August 2 - 7, 2010
Time:  10:00 AM – 1:00 PM each day at the Stony Brook University Music Building
Final concert at 1:00 PM Saturday, August 7th

Join the Bryant Park Quartet, Stony Brook Community Music Program's Ensemble-in-Residence, for a week-long summer music camp that will focus on developing important chamber music skills.  The BPQ, a New York City based ensemble, has extensive experience in helping young musicians encounter the exciting nature of chamber music. The BPQ believes that playing chamber music helps young string players build confidence and acquire critical musicianship skills that can make them better orchestra players and soloists.  Each day of the camp, participants will receive coachings and take part in daily seminars/demonstrations led by the Bryant Park Quartet.  The camp will culminate with each group performing on the final concert that will be open to the public.

Individual string players or pre-formed groups are welcome to audition for this new chamber music opportunity.  Open to students of all levels of chamber music experience.

Eligibility:

Violin, viola, and cello students ages 12 and up. Each participant selected must agree to be available for all sessions.  Chamber music does not work unless all members are present, therefore, absences will not be allowed.

How to apply:

  1. Fill out the attached application form and return it with a $25 application fee per person (only one $25 application fee is needed for each pre-formed group).
  2. Schedule an audition on May 8 or May 15

Please note: if you are auditioning for the 2010-11 Stony Brook Pre-College program, you will not need a separate audition for the summer camp.  Current 2009-10 Pre-College students do not have to audition for the summer camp, however, an application fee is still required.
